(There's) No place I would rather be
(There's) No place I would rather be
(There's) No place I would rather be
Than here in Your love
Here in Your love
Set a fire down in my soul
That I can't contain
That I can't control
Cause I want more of You God
I want more of You
- Will Reagan & United Pursuit "Set a Fire" (Live at Banks House)
=====
Do you ever feel overwhelmed by the love of the Father and don’t feel like you can adequately respond to it? That is me in this moment. The song above (and video below), by Will Reagan and United Pursuit, always lights a fire in me which makes me feel as if I’m going to implode with the passion and love of God. I can’t explain it.
I have felt bombarded lately in life. The stress of everything has hit a head quite a few times, and only by the grace of God and perfect placement of friends/family have I survived. I don’t think I’ve taken on too much; I want to make that clear. Just like everything in life, things can get overwhelming. Issues arise when I get overwhelmed but haven’t spent time in the Word of God to give me the food I need to make it through the day. I am utterly dependent on daily food from scripture. I have a better frame of mind, peace walking through the day, and my reactions to situations are less extreme that needs fixing later. I just don’t do it daily like I need too. I forgot all too often that I need the Word of God, prayer, and community in my life. Community I am a pro at. I love people, sometimes to a fault, and enjoy spending time with them. I love prayer (however, even that has been slacking) and fall back on it often because it doesn’t require anything (I don’t always have my bible present). Reading is one of my favorite pass times, but I lose sight of the POWER in scripture and turn to fiction best sellers instead.
Today, my challenge to myself and to you, would be to get back to (or into for the first time) a habit of DAILY scripture reading. Even if it is only one verse, meditate on it, memorize it, and find the POWER in the Word of God. I long to get back to a place of seeing the power in scripture, so my challenge is for the month of March (starts in 3 days) to read the Bible until you find the power behind the Words and it no longer sits as a story that’s been read 100 times over. I will sit until something changes. I will also try to write often on here to share what is going on during this month. We can do it!
