So I experienced the second best feeling in the world, about an hour ago. What is it, you ask?? I just had the honor of leading my 7 year old sister to the Lord!!!!!!!!!!!
For quite a while now she has asked questions about what being a Christian is about, and is the first person to tell of the story of Jesus Christ (how he lived, died and rose again) and understood the concepts, but didn't know what it took to put them all together. She has asked questions in regards to different things the bible says and stuff she has heard at church.
Well...tonight on the way to Wal-Mart for a "Sissy/Josie Trip" we got on the topic of Jesus, which we do often (neither of us seem to talk about anything else). Now, like I said, she knew what I was telling her about how Jesus died on our behalf because the bible says that "no one is good, not even one" (Romans 3:12) but that "God loved us so much he sent his only son to die and if we believe in Him that we have eternal life" (John 3:16) and get to spend forever in Heaven with Jesus. The bible also says that "if we confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in our heart that God raised him from the dead, we will be saved" (Romans 10:9). She looked at me and said "it's that easy". I chuckled and said yes it's that easy. While, we finished our trip, her asking a few more questions in regards to that general subject, and then while we were at the check out, she asked what you do after you become a Christian. I explained to her that you followed the commandments, and the 2 greatest are to love Jesus with everything and love others (Mark 12:28-31). I explained to her applicable ways that she can do that now but how doing all the right things aren't what saves you, but "grace through faith, not of ourselves but a gift from God" (Ephesians 2:8-9). I told her that just because she is a Christian, life won't be easy but through God we know it's worth it if we stick by him. So, we walked out to the car and as we sat down (I hadn't even turned the car on yet) she looked at me and asked if she could pray and become a Christian. I, of course, said yes but she said she didn't know how to pray. I told her to repeat the things we talked about in Wal-Mart, which she did.
After that moment, I looked at her and told her she was adopted into God's family and I have never seen excitement like I saw in the eyes of that 7 year old girl. She kept saying "I'm a Christian, I'm adopted into Jesus' family". She ran inside once we got home and told my parents and Jason, then made me call Justin and Rachel (who are on their honeymoon in Hawaii) to tell them. As I was packing for my trip about a half hour ago, she came and sat in my room and started asking all sorts of questions like "how did Jesus die" and things along those lines. She told me she wants to learn all she can so one day she can be "as smart as sissy" and tell other people about Jesus. She asked me as I tucked her into bed, if tomorrow I will read the bible to her and teach her more about Jesus.
Man, I haven't known this kind of joy since May 12, 2001, when I experienced surrender to an almighty God. I can't think of a better way to leave, then knowing my sister is going to Heaven and having the honor of leading her to Christ. I might be as giddy as she is!!
Anyway, I had to share!!! I hope you have an equally amazing night!!!
